Working for our fast growing and dynamic client based in St Albans you will be a key member of this department. You will need at least 1 years’ experience of buying with a bias towards out-sourcing as opposed to in-house manufacture; Some experience of freight forwarding and importing goods would be an advantage; Direct experience of managing both domestic and Far East suppliers; Strong analytical skills; Negotiating skills and the ability to network and influence people; Computer literacy with a high level of competence with spread-sheets, word-processing and production planning software.
You will work directly with our UK and Far East supplier network and be responsible for ensuring that products are ordered on time, within budget and to the Company’s quality standards, to meet sales demand and maintain inventory levels. You will liaise closely with Design and Sales to ensure the smooth flow of work through the business and satisfactory completion of new product development items on time, within budget and to the Company’s quality standards.
Your main duties will be to: To liaise with Buying team colleagues to establish purchasing requirements; Support the Supplier selection; Work with your seniors to conduct price and lead time negotiations; Purchase order placement; Progress chasing and query resolution; Liaise with freight forwarders to import manufactured products; To raise ‘shipping lists’; Liaise with internal stakeholders to arrange timely stage payments; To be pro-active on manufacturing issues that affect target margins and to be regularly involved with other operational functions including Sales, Design, and Finance.
